Wow! A 42% increase in users! This library is clearly doing something right. Its wonderful to see a university library that is expanding and refurbishing in such a user centered manner. I recently read four articles outlining several university libraries that were loosing space to offices and administrative wings, so its very refreshing to see a more user-centered reconstruction. On the other hand, if the library still can't seat the required 20% of the university population (I think you mentioned this was a motivating goal) I wonder at the contradiction in funds - enough to make changes, but not enough to make all the necessary changes. Odd. Anyway, it sounds like their on the right path and maybe keeping those user statistics and demonstrating an increasing trend in daily visitors will get them the money they need to expand even more.
